The Wise Old Bird appears in the Secondary Phase. He is the leader of the bird people of Brontitall. He is played by John le Mesurier.
The Wise Old Bird meets Arthur Dent after he is caught by one of the other bird people, and tells him about the disasters that have befallen their planet - first the robots, and then the shoes - and why they revere Arthur so much.
He lives with the other bird people inside the left ear of the statue of Arthur Dent Throwing the Nutrimatic Cup.
