The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a story by Douglas Adams. It was originally conceived as a radio series on the BBC and later was made into a book, television series and film. The film and last four radio series were released after Adams' death.

Plot Edit

The story follows a human man named Arthur Dent as he narrowly escapes dying when the planet Earth is blown up, saved by his close friend Ford Prefect, who turns out to be an alien from Betelgeuse, and a researcher for The Hitchhiker's Guide - the travel guide for hitch-hikers all over the Universe. At the beginning of their journey, the pair encounter Ford's semi-cousin and President of the Galaxy Zaphod Beeblebrox, and an astrophysicist and mathematician Trillian. Though the story differs throughout each different form of media, these characters, along with Marvin the manically depressed robot and their stolen starship the Heart of Gold, are included in each version of the tale.

The themes of life, death, probability and religion occur in every version of the story, along with many minor characters and locations being included in each one also.
