[edit] Story Summary
Life, the Universe and Everything begins where The Restaurant at the End of the Universe left off with Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect are trapped on prehistoric Earth. Just when Arthur decides he will go mad Ford shows up to inform him about strange goings on in the Space-Time Continuum.
As a result of the eddies in the Continuum, a Chesterfield Sofa suddenly appears on Earth. Ford and Arthur ride the sofa through space-time and appear in modern-day England in the middle of Lord's Cricket Ground. There they find Slartibartfast whose spaceship is concealed by an SEP (Somebody Else's Problem Field).
Ford and Arthur leave Earth on Slartibartfast's Starship Bistromath which is powered by Bistromathics.
